This portrait of Crowe’s brother was not reviewed by any of the principal newspapers or periodicals. Joseph’s son Eyre Alexander Crowe made reference in 1892 to possibly putting Uncle Eyre’s portrait of Papa on the wall in his rooms at the Foreign Office (Bodleian Library, MS Eng. d.2895 f.97). In 1922 it was owned by Sir Joseph’s son Evan Barby Crowe.
