This painting appears on the Artnet database of auction results and is described as ‘attributed to Eyre Crowe’. The style is distinctly that of Eyre Crowe. The picture is similar to the social realist works that Crowe produced in the late 1860s and early 1870s. Like The Dinner Hour, Wigan (1874) it seems to be set in a factory town of northern England.
