In the Reform Club, Pall Mall [actually a sketch for Napoleon’s Abdication] (c.1901)

Medium: pen and black ink drawing

Size: 8 x 13 inches

Current owner: private collection

This sketch was purchased by a private owner from Patricia Kleinman (formerly of Camden Passage, Islington), 16 August 1997, for £40. The title of the sketch and the date of c.1901 was suggested by the seller. The drawing is on the reverse of a sheet of ‘REFORM CLUB. PALL MALL.S.W.’ embossed notepaper. It is clear on a comparison with Napoleon’s Abdication (1902) that this is actually a preliminary sketch for the composition of the Marshals in the Talleyrand room.
